Overcoming Paralysis: A Journey of Miracles and Hope

Updated: 5 days ago

In 1997, at the age of 15, I broke my back on a motocross track and was instantly paralyzed from the diaphragm down. I later found out that when you are paralyzed, you also lose the function of your bladder and bowels. I was life-flighted to Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville, TN, where doctors told me I would never walk again and I needed to get used to my new life.

Miracles

Three weeks after I was paralyzed, I prayed for a sign that I would be able to walk again so I would not worry but be able to focus on getting better…within 60 seconds I could move my toe!

A month later, after therapy at the Shepherd Center in Atlanta, GA, I looked up while in the shower and I said to God, “Thank you for allowing me to walk again, but please let me pee so I never have to use a catheter again.” Within seconds, I started peeing and never had to use another catheter again!

Psalm 103: 3-5 CSB

He forgives all your iniquity; he heals all your diseases. He redeems your life from the Pit; he crowns you with faithful love and compassion. He satisfies you with good things; your youth is renewed like the eagle.
